The break-out rap-country star Lil Nas X became an almost overnight global sensation with his song Old Town Road, which featured Billy Ray Cyrus. Not only that, but Lil Nas X also made history as the first openly gay musician to nominate for a Country Music Association Award. He was the first musical artist to come out as gay while his record was sitting at number one, where it stayed for over 19 weeks.
Even though the artist came out publicly early in his career, he worries about his fans’ well-being, which may still be indecisive about coming out. In April of 2020, during an interview, he told the Guardian, “I 100% want to represent the LGBT community. I don’t want to encourage them to do something they don’t 100% want to do.
